time's a'tickin'

I can't believe how quickly time is flying. Fall is... falling, and the vast shelves of the Free Store (aka the outdoor store) are empty, brown, withered.

My webmistress in Germany turned me onto Deviantart.com and it's a great forum for posting new art/jewellery and getting responses, sometimes within seconds of posting, from all over the world.

Pounding away on coating silver leaves for the two big shows in October. I have another 80 almost ready to fire, just waiting for a new silver shipment to arrive so I can finish them. Will fire them I guess next week, then comes the brute labour of cleaning off the firescale and weighing, pricing and bagging each leaf, and making jewellery out of some of them. I will offer plain leaves to people to buy for their own jewellery, and I hope this proves popular.

Meanwhile, I'm playing with store-bought silliness.

art show, new market...

Well, six weeks have sped by -- and I did no new artwork and haven't made any new jewellery -- although I've had some very nice sales -- the joy of sales mitigated by losing my friend's tent two weeks ago at a market in a tornado-like monsoon that came up out of nowhere. Had to buy a new tent for myself, plus reimburse my friend for her loss. One step forward, two steps back -- ain't that the truth!?!?

But, the show must go on, and for once I'm ready to go. Just have to stick the labels on the drawings and wipe off the fingerprints and cobwebs tonight. Load the truck and deliver the drawings tomorrow morning to the gallery. Then Sunday at 3:00 at the end of the opening I will be able to breathe for the first time in weeks. This is Alan, btw, who I've drawn many times at the Glenhyrst coach house in Brantford.

It looks like I'll be starting a new market next Thursday afternoon in downtown Woodstock, weather permitting, of course, after which I will have to drive like the wind... well, maybe make that a gentle zephyr -- I already got one ticket this year, my first ever if you really must know -- to get to Brantford for Primal Roar being held at 73 Brant Ave (5:00-10:00). I think I'll be ready for a party.

first blog entry, first thoughts

Talking to the computer screen, portal to the world, rather than to myself, one face in the mirror.

"Artefact" was taken, so I came up with "Artefaccio" -- "I make art". I never could speak Italian properly.

I was making jewellery at a fair on the weekend, selling pieces when they were only half-completed. I have an art show coming up in six weeks, and I have to finish -- hah, start -- a lot of new paintings/drawings/whatever.

Here goes.
